ABOUT RECENT CINEMA FROM SPAIN

Starting with the 2026 edition, Recent Cinema from Spain will adopt a new year-round format, presenting Spanish films throughout the entire calendar year in Miami. This evolution aims to expand the catalogue of titles showcased in the United States and significantly increase the opportunities for the promotion and visibility of Spanish cinema. This new stage is produced by EGEDA US and the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), with the special collaboration of Silverspot Cinema and the Centro Cultural Espaņol.

Recent Cinema from Spain presents in Miami today’s best films from Spain. This Seventh Art showcase has hosted leading figures of the Spanish film industry, artists who have played a key role in positioning “Made in Spain” productions at the forefront of global filmmaking.

RECENT CINEMA FROM SPAIN was created in Miami in 2011 as an initiative of EGEDA (the Spanish Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Association), with the aim of offering a new platform for the promotion of Spanish cinema in the United States, strengthening its presence among general audiences and within the international audiovisual industry.

Since its first edition, the exhibition has grown steadily, becoming a well-established cultural event in the city of Miami. Thanks to its strong reception from both audiences and critics, it has earned a prominent place in the city’s cultural and cinematic calendar.

The exhibition traditionally opened with a special screening of one of the most relevant Spanish films of the year, accompanied by a curated selection of notable productions. Over the years, it has brought some of Spain’s most acclaimed cinema to one of Miami’s most emblematic venues.

EGEDA is a non-profit service organization that manages copyright on behalf of audiovisual producers, administering collective management rights that are unfeasible to handle individually. EGEDA also provides essential support services to producers and to the audiovisual sector as a whole. The association represents and defends the interests of audiovisual producers in Spain and Latin America and is particularly active in the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights.
