Synopsis: Strangers Val and Mary Cybele survive the sinking of a cruise ship, and, over the course of that fateful day, get to know one another in the most dire of circumstances as they reach land and try to save themselves.

Dir. Sergio Abuja

Sergio Abuja is a Spanish Filmmaker born in Sevilla. He began working as a camera operator, set decorator, assistant director and editor while getting his degree at the Sevillian University in Films and Media Studies.

Sergio directed videos, commercials and documentaries for Spanish Local and National Channels but his great interest in other cultures took him to study in Paris, France in 2005 at the Universite de Sciencies de L´information Paris X before moving to the United States in 2008 to complete a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking at the NYFA Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

In 2009 he finishes the film THE MAN WHO INVENTED THE WORDS, his first short film that was awarded with many prizes and official selections in international film festivals across Europe and America.

WATERLINE, his second short film was the winning Entry of the New Filmmakers from Spain Film Contest 2011 at the XVII Recent Spanish Cinema Los Angeles & Miami Film Festival.

He is currently working in the advertising industry, he has directed commercial campaigns for US brands such as MTV, DIRECTV or BCBGMAXAZRIA among others. Sergio also cofounded the production company Spain based TIMBER FILMS to produce films, commercial and music videos.
