Miami Recent Cinema from Spain

EGEDA (Spanish acronym for the "Audiovisual Producers’ rights Management Association") is a not-for-profit service organization which manages copyright for audiovisual producers, managing in their name those rights which are unfeasible to manage on an individual basis. EGEDA also provides various services to the producers and the audiovisual industry overall. The association represents and defends the interests of audiovisual producers in Spain and Latin America and is especially active in the field of intellectual property rights management.

Recent Cinema from Spain is the result of an initiative by EGEDA, with the purpose of promoting Spanish films in the United States and encouraging their circulation to the public at-large and the audiovisual industry.

	The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) celebrates its 29th edition from March 2 – 11, 2012 and has long been considered the pre-eminent gateway for Ibero-american cinema into the United States.
	The annual Festival, produced and presented by Miami Dade College, attracts more than 70,000 audience members and more than 400 filmmakers and industry professionals to the event every year.

In the past five seasons, the Festival has screened films from more than 60 countries, including 300 East Coast, US, North American, International and World Premieres.

The Olympia Theater, built in 1926 by Paramount Pictures, is a silent movie palace and vaudeville house designed by architect and inventor of the "atmospheric" theater, John Eberson. Since its opening the theater has amazed the public with its stunning Moorish architecture, perfect acoustics and simulated night sky, complete with wafting clouds and stars. It also achieved fame as the first air-conditioned building in the South.

Throughout its history, the Olympia – also known as Gusman Center for the Performing Arts – has been host to the world’s most exciting performances in the arts and entertainment community. Film is the heart of Olympia Theater, over the years numerous films and film festivals have screened the best of international cinema on our 42’ screen under the twinkling stars.
